Windshield replacement in Mission, TX
Cracked your windshield on Expressway 83? Our glass technician replaces windshields at the shop. When the glass is a special order, he can do the job at your house. Call (956) 519-8414 and we will sort out which one fits your car.
Chips and cracks on the expressway
At expressway speed, one pebble off a truck tire is enough to chip or crack a windshield. Our shop is on the Expressway 83 frontage, and that road runs right past our door.
Once glass is cracked, the crack can keep running. If it crosses the driver's view, or it sits in front of the camera behind your mirror, it is time to replace the windshield.
Hail and heat in the Valley
Hail breaks windshields here too. On March 26, 2015, a lunch hour storm over Mission, Alton, and Palmhurst left dented cars and cracked windshields, according to the National Weather Service. On May 17, 2024, hail about an inch and a half across fell near P.J. Garza Road by Expressway 83 in La Joya.
Summer is rough on glass. July highs in the mid 90s are normal here, and a windshield parked in the sun gets hotter than the air around it. Blast it with cold AC and the glass takes that swing. A small chip can grow into a long crack that way.
If hail hit the body too, the same shop that replaces your glass can fix the dents and the paint. One drop off covers both.
Cars with a camera behind the mirror
Lots of newer cars have a camera or a rain sensor mounted on the windshield, up behind the rearview mirror. The camera reads lane lines and feeds features like emergency braking.
On those cars we use an OEM windshield. Aftermarket glass can keep the camera from calibrating correctly, and the car's safety features count on that camera seeing straight.
Calibration is its own step. It is not part of the glass job. If your insurance covers the windshield, it also covers the calibration and any resets needed to finish. If you are paying yourself, calibration starts with a $150 pre-scan and ends with a $150 post-scan, and most customer-pay calibration jobs run roughly $300 to $600.
At the shop or at your house
Our glass technician is mobile and works out of our shop. You can bring the car to us. When the glass has to be special ordered, he can bring it to your home and put it in there.
Whether he can get to your address depends on where you live and how his week looks, so call (956) 519-8414 before you plan on a home install. We would rather tell you straight than promise a visit we can't make. If your car needs calibration after the new glass, that part happens at the shop.
Texas inspections and cracked glass
Texas ended annual safety inspections for most passenger cars on January 1, 2025. No inspection station is going to flag your cracked windshield anymore. That doesn't make the crack go away. It is still your view of the road.

Windshields in Mission: questions
How much does a new windshield cost in Mission, TX?
It depends on the car. A plain windshield costs less than one with a camera or rain sensor. Call with the year, make, and model and we will price it. If you are paying and the car needs calibration, add the scans: $150 before and $150 after, with most calibration jobs landing roughly $300 to $600.
Can I get my windshield replaced for free in Texas?
A windshield is free to you when insurance pays for it, usually through comprehensive or glass coverage with no deductible or a low one. Check your policy. If your insurance covers the windshield, it also covers the calibration and resets.
Is it legal to drive with a cracked windshield in Texas?
We fix glass, we don't give legal advice. Here is what we can tell you: Texas dropped annual safety inspections for most passenger cars on January 1, 2025, so an inspection won't catch it. A crack in front of the driver still makes it harder to see. If yours is in your line of sight, get it looked at.
Can you replace my windshield at my house in Mission?
On special-order glass, our technician can install it at your home. Whether he can reach your address depends on location and schedule, so call (956) 519-8414 to confirm first.
Will my lane camera work after a new windshield?
It needs to be calibrated first. We use OEM glass on cars with a windshield camera, then calibrate at the shop. Calibration is a separate step from the glass, so make sure your quote includes it.
Do you use OEM or aftermarket glass?
OEM on any car with a camera or rain sensor on the windshield. On other cars, ask us what glass we are quoting and we will tell you plainly.
Hail cracked my windshield and dented the car. Can you fix both?
Yes. We replace the glass and repair the body at the same shop, with paintless dent repair where the panels allow it. One estimate, one place.
Ready to bring your car in?
