Windshield replacement in Edinburg, TX

Cracked windshield after a hailstorm or a wreck? Our glass technician works out of our shop and replaces windshields at 11700 Rooth Road. For special-order glass, he can do the job at your home. Call (956) 380-3368 and we will tell you what your car needs.

Hail breaks glass too

Most people think of dents when hail hits. The glass takes a beating as well. On May 8, 2025, golf ball size hail fell southwest of Edinburg, and a 2 inch stone was measured near Dove and McColl. Hail that size can crack a windshield.

Because we are a body shop, we can look at the windshield and the dents on the same visit. If the hood and roof need paintless dent repair and the glass needs replacing, you do not have to drive to two places.

Camera cars need the right glass

A lot of newer cars have a camera or a rain sensor mounted behind the rearview mirror. That camera looks through the windshield to run things like lane keeping and automatic emergency braking. If the glass is wrong, the camera may not read the road correctly.

On cars with a camera or a rain sensor behind the mirror, we use an OEM windshield. Aftermarket glass can keep the camera from calibrating correctly, and we do not want to hand back a car with a system that does not work.

Calibration is a separate step

Putting in a new windshield does not include ADAS calibration. Calibration is its own job, and on a camera car it needs to happen before the car goes back on the road. We calibrate all years, makes, and models at our shop with a technician we work with, Teslas included.

If you pay without insurance, calibration starts with a $150 pre-scan to see which systems need it and ends with a $150 post-scan to confirm they work. Most customer-pay calibration jobs run roughly $300 to $600. Ask us about the windshield and the calibration together so there are no surprises.

What insurance covers

If your insurance covers the windshield, it also covers the calibration and any resets needed to finish the job. You do not have to argue for the calibration separately. We handle that with the insurer.

What your policy covers, and your deductible, depend on your plan. Call your agent or give us your policy info and we will help you figure it out before any work starts.

At the shop, or at your home for special orders

Most windshields get done at our shop at 11700 Rooth Road, near SH 107. It is a few miles from the UTRGV campus, so students can drop the car off between classes. The shop is open Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5:30 PM.

When the glass is a special order, our tech can come to your home and install it there. Whether he can reach your address depends on where you live, so call to confirm before you count on a home visit.

Driving on a cracked windshield in Texas

Texas stopped requiring safety inspections for most non-commercial vehicles on January 1, 2025. That means no inspection station is going to flag your crack anymore. It does not mean the crack is safe. A crack in front of the driver makes it harder to see the road. Get it looked at.

Questions

Windshield questions from Edinburg drivers

How much does a new windshield cost in Edinburg?

It depends on the car and whether it has a camera or rain sensor that needs OEM glass and calibration. Call us with the year, make, and model and we will give you a quote.

Can I get my windshield replaced for free?

It depends on your policy and deductible. What we can tell you: if your insurance covers the windshield, it also covers the calibration and resets needed to finish the job.

Will you come to my house in Edinburg?

For special-order glass, our tech can do the job at your home. It depends on your address, so call us to confirm before you plan on it. Any windshield can be done at our shop.

Does my car need calibration after a new windshield?

If it has a camera or sensor behind the mirror, yes. Calibration is a separate step from the glass. We do it at our shop for all years, makes, and models.

Can a long crack be repaired, or do I need a new windshield?

We do glass repair and windshield replacement. Which one you need depends on the size and spot of the damage. Bring it by and we will tell you straight.

Is it legal to drive with a cracked windshield in Texas?

We are not lawyers, so we will not tell you what a ticket would say. What we know: Texas ended safety inspections for most personal vehicles on January 1, 2025. A crack in your line of sight is still a safety problem, so get it fixed.

Can you fix hail dents and the windshield at the same time?

Yes. We are a body shop with a glass tech, so we can look at the dents and the glass together and write it all up for your adjuster.
