Collision repair in Mission and Edinburg
Collision repair puts a car back to factory shape after a wreck. That means the frame, the panels, the bumpers, and the parts hidden behind them. We have been doing it in the Rio Grande Valley since 1996, first at our Mission shop and now in Edinburg too. Estimates are free at both.
What we fix after a wreck
Most people see the bumper cover and the headlight. We look at what sits behind them. A rear-end hit at a light can leave a scuffed cover with a bent reinforcement bar, cracked brackets, or a parking sensor pushed out of place underneath. A side hit can bend a door, the pillar it hangs on, and the suspension parts at that corner.
Our collision work covers frame and unibody straightening, panel and bumper replacement, and the suspension and mechanical repairs that come with an impact. We work on cars, trucks, and SUVs. The body work, paint, and reassembly all happen in our own shop.
Why we measure the frame
Most cars and crossovers today are built unibody, which means the body and the frame are one structure. Most pickups still ride on a separate frame. Either way, if the structure is out of place by a small amount, you feel it later. Doors don't line up, a tire wears on one edge, or the car pulls to one side.
So we measure. We check the frame against the factory specs for that make and model, pull it on the frame machine, and measure again. We don't call it done until it is back in tolerance. That step takes time, and it is the part of a collision repair you can't see when you pick up the car.
Wrecks in Hidalgo County, by the numbers
TxDOT counted 16,601 crashes in Hidalgo County in 2024. That is about 45 a day. Of those, 10,282 had no injuries at all. Nobody went to the hospital, but somebody still had a car to fix.
Inside city limits, TxDOT counted 1,437 crashes in Mission, 2,407 in Edinburg, and 2,853 in McAllen that year. Our Mission shop sits on the Expressway 83 frontage, the stretch that is also signed as Interstate 2. Our Edinburg shop is at 11700 Rooth Road. Both are a short drive for McAllen drivers.
What changes the cost of a collision repair
We can't price a wreck over the phone. The number depends on what we find once we look at the car. These are the things that move it most:
- Whether the frame or unibody took the hit, or only bolt-on panels
- OEM or aftermarket parts (we use OEM on about 90% of repairs)
- Cameras, radar, or sensors that need calibration after the repair
- How much paint it takes to blend a new panel into the old ones
- Hidden damage that only shows up once the bumper or panel comes off
Dealer body shop or independent shop?
It is your call. Texas Insurance Code § 1952.301 says your insurer can't restrict you from choosing the repair shop. That applies whether you pick a dealer's body shop or an independent one like ours.
What matters more than the sign out front is how the car gets fixed. We are an I-CAR Gold Class shop. We push for factory parts, and every repair carries a lifetime warranty on our workmanship and the materials we use.
How a collision repair goes
- 01
Get the car to us
Drive it in during shop hours, or call either shop for a tow. The phones answer 24 hours. If we do the repair, the tow is free.
- 02
Look it over and write it up
We inspect the damage and write the estimate. If there is a claim, it goes to your adjuster. If more damage turns up after the parts come off, we send a supplement and tell you what changed.
- 03
Structure first
Frame and unibody come first. We measure, straighten, and measure again before any new panels go on.
- 04
Body, paint, and sensors
Panels go on, the color gets matched in our booth, and any cameras or sensors the repair touched get calibrated.
- 05
Pick up
We wash the car, walk the repair with you, and hand back the keys.
Frequently asked questions
How long does collision repair take?
It depends on the damage, how fast the parts arrive, and how long the insurer takes to approve the estimate and any supplements. A bumper job and a frame job are very different. We tell you what we expect when we write the estimate, and we call you if anything changes.
How much does collision repair cost?
There is no flat price. Structural damage, parts, paint, and sensor calibration all move the number. Estimates are free at both shops, so the fastest way to a real number is to bring the car in.
Should I take my car to the dealer for collision repair?
You can, but you don't have to. In Texas you choose the shop. We use OEM parts on about 90% of repairs, we are I-CAR Gold Class, and our work carries a lifetime warranty on workmanship and materials.
Is a body shop different from a collision center?
Mostly they are two names for the same kind of place. The better question is whether the shop does structural work, or only dents and paint. We do both: frame and unibody straightening, plus the body and paint work that follows.
Do I have to use the shop my insurance company recommends?
No. Under Texas Insurance Code § 1952.301, your insurer can't restrict your choice of repair shop. If the other driver's insurer is paying, it can't require you to use a particular shop either.
Do you warranty collision repairs?
Yes. Every repair comes with a lifetime warranty on our workmanship and the materials we use.
Where are your shops?
Mission is at 2510 West Expressway 83. Edinburg is at 11700 Rooth Road. Both are open Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5:30 PM, and both write free estimates.
